Nolan’s Birth Day

August 8, 2012

My cousin Mandy and her husband Kelvin welcomed their son into the world on Saturday, and I am honored that they invited me to be there to document little Nolan’s birth day story.  Nolan was expected to be a big baby, so his momma spent much energy bravely laboring in the delivery room before being taken to the OR for the final push.  I wasn’t able to follow them there with my camera to capture Nolan’s first moments… but while his exhausted mother was attended to, I was there to see his daddy hold him for the first time!  Some time later, Mandy was feeling better and the newly-minted family of three was finally together.  Welcome, Nolan– you are so very loved!  Here is how your big day unfolded~

A Birth Day Story | annapolis maryland birth photographer

August 27, 2011

When my dear friend first showed me the priceless photographs she captured of my baby’s birthday, I knew for sure that I wanted to document a birth day for another couple.  I was so glad to have those precious photographs to remember my labor and my daughter’s entrance into the world.  You see, I have this list– a “30 Things to Do Before I’m 30″ list.  And as I sat in the labor and delivery recovery room on March 27 looking through those pictures of my delivery, I knew that #27 on my list, photograph a birth, absolutely had to be checked off.

Soon afterward, I received a message from Jen.  She and her husband were expecting their third baby only weeks after my own girl was born, and, knowing about #27 on my list, they said they’d love to have me there with my camera for their labor and delivery.  It was such an honor to be there with them, and I was so blessed to witness the love, devotion, tenderness, and joy…all through the night and well into the next morning:)

It was beautiful, one of my favorite “sessions” ever.
