Anticipation
August 15, 2012
It seems like this summer I am rejoicing with many friends and family over new additions and anticipated arrivals… so many precious children to be thankful for! I’m happy to have had the opportunity to photograph my friend Erin last week as she enjoys her first pregnancy and, with her husband, looks forward to the birth of her firstborn son in September.
You Are My Sunshine…
July 2, 2012
Before we celebrated her baby shower (see it here), I spent a sunny late afternoon with Mandy and her husband Kelvin…just the two of them. They’re going to be great parents and I can’t wait to see them holding their little sunshine in their arms~
Feather Her Nest | a baby shower
June 15, 2012
My cousin Mandy and her husband are expecting their first child, a boy, in August. They live and work on the family’s dairy farm and are two of the talented people behind the amazing Prigel Family Creamery in Baltimore County. The farm made the perfect backdrop for the baby shower my sister and I planned on a sunny June afternoon! The theme was “Feather Her Nest” and we all had a perfectly lovely time helping them prepare for and celebrate the baby. I thought it would be fun to share some photos I managed to take in between refilling drinks, carrying platters of delicious food, and sipping my iced coffee…
Some details…
My sister set up a “make your own” onesie station in the yard- guests could design a teeny onesie for the baby using iron-on letters and decals. The ironing board and iron were set up in the shade of a large tree, and then the finished shirts were hung on a twine clothesline for all to admire! My five-year old, Grace, was even able to get in on the creative action.
The drink table featured cucumber-mint ice water (so refreshing!), limeade, and in order to satisfy the guest of honor’s pregnancy craving– an iced (decaf) coffee bar, complete with flavored syrups, whipped cream, chocolate and butterscotch topping, and of course some farm-fresh creamy milk. This might have been where I spent most of my time.
Dessert was a fruit tart buffet featuring my talented sister’s homemade tart shells, lemon curd or vanilla custard, and fresh summer berries. Yes, I had more than one, why do you ask?
Part of the joy of this event was putting it on in a true DIY manner, with help from all the ladies in the family that love Mandy and her growing family so much! Maybe you’ll see something inspiring for your next celebration!
Flowers: hydrangeas and lemon verbena from my yard; lanterns: IKEA; food: the kitchens of our sweet family members; paper straws: Amazon.com; wooden birdies, birds in the tree, and nests: Michael’s; serving dishes, mason jars, and drink dispensers: we already owned them; chocolate robin’s eggs: flown in from London in the carry-on bag of my sister

We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful, warm March day for this session. This sweet couple is expecting a boy and I look forward to hearing of his safe arrival! What a joy to celebrate this time in the life of a family. The maternity casting call sessions this winter have been so much fun, and I want to send more thanks to all of my models for their willingness to participate and celebrate this exciting time in their lives.
I’m looking forward to sharing a newborn session featuring the brand new baby girl welcomed by one of my February maternity models, so check back soon!
Simply Beautiful

After weeks of bedrest, I am so thankful that this little one was kept safe inside of mama, and that we were able to pull off this maternity session after all. Everything about it was simply beautiful…
