Having your labor and delivery professionally photographed is a priceless opportunity to embrace and remember your baby’s entrance into the world. I cherish the photos of my third daughter’s birth, and am excited to offer this to clients as well, whether it be a home, Birth Center, or hospital delivery. Coverage usually begins at 5cm dilation and continues to at least one hour post-delivery (to include those first snuggles!) I have especially close access to Anne Arundel Medical Center and am very familiar with the labor and delivery unit, having delivered all five of my babies there!
*Beginning Winter 2016, I’ll only be offering a very limited number of portrait session commissions as I spend some time concentrating on my calligraphy shop, Heather Grace Creative on Etsy. Creating art with my camera will always be an important part of my life, so please do inquire about my availability. I’d love to hear from you! *
Every session is unique.
I am happy to meet you either at your home or a favorite outdoor location of your choice. Our time together is all about the things that make this moment in time worth remembering– so bring along a favorite outfit or two, a beloved toy, or spend some time snuggling together. Evenings right before sunset is my favorite time for taking photos, and I specialize in relaxed and emotional connections. To me, a happy family + a softly lit, grassy field + camera = perfection!
After booking, you will receive a pdf version of the “What to Wear” guide, with practical tips on how to look your best for your session.
Sessions for your newborn should be scheduled before baby is 2 weeks old, in order to perfectly capture the curled-up, sleepy newness of those first days. These sessions can last anywhere from one to three hours, with time for feeding and diapering and lullabies! Your due date is put on my calendar, and we will promptly schedule a session when your little one arrives. There are many different approaches to newborn photography, so please take a look at the “Newborns” category in the website galleries menu above to get a good idea of my newborn style, which is simple and organic. I do not use props or complicated posing– I prefer swaddling in soft blankets (diapers can stay on!), allowing each baby the freedom to snuggle as he or she is most comfortable, and focusing attention on the blossoming bond between baby and parents.
After booking, you will receive a pdf version of the “Newborn FAQs”, with answers to all your questions about your baby’s photographic debut.
I love to meet with clients in person to go over the Birth Session Questionnaire, get to know one another, and gush over your highly-anticipated baby.
When Will My Proofs Be Ready?
Two to four weeks after your session, you will be presented with approximately 35-50 fully-edited proofs in both a private online gallery with an ordering cart. Your cart will be live for one week during which orders are placed. Book and album designs are discussed by email or phone. Payment must be received in full before print orders are fulfilled.
